Birdsong Cremations was born from the heart and vision of our co-founder, Ray Shotwell—a beloved figure in Southeast Texas funeral care. For more than 50 years, Ray dedicated his life to guiding families through their most difficult moments with compassion and integrity. As he witnessed a growing need for more accessible, affordable, and modern end-of-life care, Ray saw an opportunity to serve families in a new way.

After selling his crematorium and stepping into what was meant to be retirement, Ray couldn’t ignore the calling. He launched Birdsong Cremations with the belief that families deserved a simpler, more affordable option—one that combined technology with the warmth and dignity of traditional service.

Though Ray has since passed away, his legacy lives on in everything we do. We remain deeply committed to carrying forward the torch he lit—offering direct cremation services with the same compassion, innovation, and dedication to Texas families that Ray envisioned from the beginning.

Peyton Stewart provides compassionate guidance with thoughtful attention to every detail. Leondra McCullough brings understanding and expertise, helping families navigate each stage with grace. Paige Hawkins adds warmth and compassion, offering comfort and reassurance throughout the process.
