Our co-founder, Ray Shotwell, is renowned for his steadfast guidance of Southeast Texas families and communities during their most challenging times. With over 50 years in funeral services, Ray observed a growing demand for change. He recognized that an online service could offer the ease and affordability that traditional funeral homes could not. Upon selling his crematorium and entering "retirement," Ray established Birdsong Cremations. Our direct cremation services combines the latest technology with enduring compassion and quality cremation services, proudly supported by Texas families.

My name is Stephanie Jezbera, and I’m a licensed funeral director with over eight years of experience in the funeral industry. I graduated with honors from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in 2019 and have proudly held my license for the past six years.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, I relocated to Katy in early 2021. I chose this profession because I genuinely believe in the importance of guiding families through some of life’s most challenging moments. Providing compassionate, personalized care is not just my responsibility—it’s my calling. I consider it a privilege to support families with empathy, respect, and dignity.
In recognition of that commitment, I was honored to receive the J.D. Power Award for Customer Satisfaction and Recognition Program in both 2023 and 2024—a reflection of the deep care I strive to give every family I serve.
Outside of work, I’m a proud pet parent to five dogs and two cats, who never fail to greet me with joy at the end of each day.
